Hi, I'm Kate.

I provide high-quality, private tutoring to students, engaging lesson creation for teachers, and supporting services to homeschooling parents.

Hi, I'm Kate.

I provide high-quality, private tutoring to students, engaging lesson creation for teachers, and supporting services to homeschooling parents.

MEET YOUR NEW VIRTUAL CO-TEACHER

I provide high-quality, private tutoring to students, engaging lesson creation for teachers, and supporting services to homeschooling parents.

So, why me? Little ol’ me? Why should I be of service to you?

In regards to my career, I have been an ELA/ESL teacher for ten years, and I have taught ALL grades from 6-12. These ELA classes ranged in varying degrees of academic levels: I have taught EC, ELL, remediation , standard, Honors, and Advanced Placement classes.

I graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with my Bachelor’s in Secondary Education English, and I also have my certification in ELA/ESL in Arizona and North Carolina.

Additionally, I was a private tutor for six years, in which I tutored middle and high-school English, math, and science, and social studies. While English content is my expertise (and I will say, my favorite), but I can help you and your students with any content area. I have also done private tutoring for students who are in K-5!

So, let me get to the bottom line:

I can create and offer meaningful and personalized solutions and lessons so that students, homeschooling parents, and teachers can feel stronger and more effective in the “online” classroom without sacrificing their professional, mental, or physical health--because without your mental energy and fortitude, the entire model collapses.

Let me take one of the items in your “juggling” rotation out of the picture so you can be better for yourself so that you can be better for everyone, whether that includes you, your child, or your students. Also, my favorite part of teaching is doing one-on-one instruction because that is where maximum growth takes place and gives the student a sense of efficacy.

This is what I LOVE doing.

WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU

PRIVATE TUTORING FOR STUDENTS

1.5 Hours - $80

I create personalized lessons based on the curriculum sent by their teachers for your student. Before creating the lesson, I analyze your student's strengths and weakness and tailor the lesson to their specific needs. I am willing to do in-person tutoring or tutoring via Zoom for a 90 minute lesson.

Co-Teaching for Teachers

1 Hour - Starting At $97

Depending on your needs, I consult and collaborate with you to effectively deliver content to your students based on their specific needs based on student data. All that is needed from you is to send me the curricular materials, and I will adapt it by creating a unit (roughly 2 weeks of lessons) that includes multi-media avenues to delivering the material for step-by-step, high-quality, maximum learning to your students whether they are learning in the classroom, remotely, or a blended model.

Co-Teaching for Homeschooling Parents

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Kate is the epitome of a compassionate and dedicated teacher, who puts forth tireless efforts in promoting student success. I have been in CMS for over 20 years and many of those years have been paired with an EC or ELL/ESL co-teacher.

Kate is one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure and honor to work with during my tenure. Daily, she arrived early to my class and spoke with students concerning academics and social concerns, monitored student progress, collaborated with me concerning students progress and made lesson plan adjustments accordingly for the following day.

Margaret

Co-Teaching Client

Kate is a delight! Her enthusiasm and love to teach comes through in every lesson.

She takes the time to tailor each session to your needs; her professionalism and her knowledge are sure ingredients for your success.

Kate’s abilities will ensure any client of any age success in their endeavors.

Kyra

Private Tutoring Client

Kate brings her passion for literature into whichever novel her students are reading or topic they are researching.

In speaking with her, her students, and our peers, I have learned that Kate synthesizes her knowledge in all subject areas and requires her students’ essays to include sophisticated diction and syntax, analysis with relevant textual evidence, credible sources, and most importantly, original perspective.

She openly shares her ideas and is always prepared to try new things.

Melissa

Co-Teaching Client

Kate has worked over Zoom with my 6-year old daughter, during Kindergarten, twice a week since late March 2020 and throughout the COVID-19 school closures and the summer break.

Throughout the distance learning period, her help was invaluable; we would discuss the weekly program and share the tasks. She focused on helping my daughter with reading and the english language curriculum generally, but they also did Spanish homework together. During the summer break, they worked on our daughter's reading skills.

Kate's teaching style is engaging and fun, and our daughter did not even consider their sessions 'homework'! She could keep our daughter focused during their Zoom sessions, she kept us informed on her progress using metrics and she also gave us tips on how to approach distance learning. We will continue their sessions after school opens and I would strongly recommend Kate as a tutor to support the learning of a young child!

Maria

Private Tutoring Client

Kate exhibits a unique balance of intellectualism and gregariousness that all teachers are called to strive for, but far too few realize. She possesses the ability to instruct, correct, and evaluate her students without sacrificing warmth and approachability. Her constant energy and sunny disposition create a lively atmosphere in her classroom, even when tackling the more tedious aspects of the English language.

Kate has made my job as the English instructor of juniors and seniors infinitely easier by giving our sophomores strong foundations by covering grammar and writing structure so that I no longer have to sacrifice excessive time to basic review, and by introducing them to higher-level thinking and analysis, enabling me to invite my students to delve deeper into texts.

She integrates academic vocabulary into her classroom in such a way that students are not merely drilled and then tested, but rather learn to incorporate their expanded lexicons into their discussions and writings.

A MASTER TEACHER WITH 10 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

A bit more about me...

First, I’ve come from a long line of teachers and I’ve been around it since I was young. Second, I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. Third, I’ve been a teacher for 10 years, and I have taught every grade from 6-12 that were a mixture of standard classes, exceptional students classes, ESL classes, Honors classes, and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.

I worked for a charter school group in Phoenix, Arizona for 8 years, and then public schools for the last two years. Furthermore, during the nine of those years of teaching, I had NO curriculum, NO planning hour, and NO instructional support that I could count on on a regular basis. I even had FOUR classes to prep for! (Oh my gosh, facepalm, those were the toughest quarters/semesters).

Sometimes I didn’t even repeat one of those four prepped classes throughout the year. Then, standards would change, many times the lesson plan templates changed from year to year, and I couldn’t resubmit them the following year. This obviously called for some serious creativity on how to fit EVERYTHING I was EXPECTED to do without being GIVEN the resources to do so.

What makes a master teacher is collaboration and to exposing other teachers’ experiences in a way that is meaningful, personalized, and most of all AFFORDABLE so that students, teachers, and homeschooling parents can feel stronger and more effective in the classroom (whether it is in the class or at home) without sacrificing their financial, physical, or mental welfare.

Ultimately, what I can do for you is create meaningful, effective, and customized lessons based on your students' and child's needs. My favorite activity is to create lessons and deliver them! This is why I continue to teach--because I still find it meaningful and purposeful despite the current and evolved state of the educational environment.

Hey "Teach," It's Time...

Time to take back your planning hour, time to get your kiddo the tutoring they need,
or time to get the help you homeschool your child so you can spend
more time doing what you need to do & love to do.
